Experience
Ridgeline Data Inc
I teamed up with a previous co-worker to start Ridgeline Data. We partnered with a Medicare Network Service Vendor (NSV) to create a Medicare claims submission and management system named CMSconnect.
CMSconnect is a Python application that runs entirely on the Amazon AWS cloud.
AWS technologies used: Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, SES and CloudFront.
TevixMD Corp
I developed and managed various applications for managing healthcare claims, especially rejected claims.
Solutions included both batch and real-time applications written in VB.NET/Visual Basic.
I first started using Python here for basic file handling (batch files, backup files, etc). This is also where I first started using the cloud, initially using cloud-based email servers but eventually moved on to migrating on-premises servers to cloud servers.
TherAssist Software Inc
I was the lead (and initially the sole) developer of the TherAssist application for Physical Therapy clinics.
This required a good bit of on-site work with Therapists to fully understand how they worked.

Personal Interests
Running
I started running to... lose weight. Go figure.
I enjoyed it so much I started racing 5ks and eventually moved up to marathons.
So far I've run 20 marathons but recently I've been running mostly for fun and fitness, on a trail whenever possible.
Backpacking
My wife and I, along with one of our dogs Charlie, have enjoyed some great backpacking trips.
We've done a 110-mile stretch of the Appalachian trail and a 5-day trip in Yellowstone but my favorite hikes have been on the Foothills Trail.
The 77-mile Foothills Trail is located in the northwestern corner of South Carolina, making it a local trail for us.
We enjoyed it so much the first time that we've done it 4 more times, and always look forward to the next one. As long as it doesn't rain too much.
CrossFit

In July of 2019 I decided to try something I never thought I would try: CrossFit
My running had gotten stale and I needed something different and CrossFit definitely provided something different!
At this point it's been only a couple of months but I can feel and see the difference that high intensity training and strength training provide.
Now, all I need to do is stick with it and not get injured.
